EZ-EDGE Overview
EZ-EDGE Automating the street cabinet

Simpler Networks’ EZ-EDGE is based on its micro-electromechanical (MEMS) breakthrough technology. The MEMS chip, which is 200 times smaller than conventional relays and control, allows the EZ-EDGE to deliver a non-blocking switching solution for the automation of copper interconnection at remote locations.

Access cards allow the system to grow in increments of 32 ports facing either the feeder, cabinet DSLAM or distribution plant. The EZ-EDGE can be sized to accommodate a wide range of cabinet connectivity needs.

The Benefits: Simply stated

Fast provisioning
Demand for triple play services has pushed service providers worldwide in bringing DSL technology closer to the end user. With Fiber-to-the-node, service providers need to remotely activate those high revenue services to keep or regain their competitive edge.

Cost reduction
The EZ-EDGE eliminates such site dispatch or “truck rolls” associated with the labor-intensive process of cross-connecting copper wires to activate the new service. The EZ-EDGE also doubles as a Test Access Matrix (TAM) allowing loop qualification and trouble shooting from a central location.

Increase revenues
Request for new services can be turned up faster for accelerated revenues and customer retention.

Better utilization of broadband service platforms
With the EZ-EDGE, only the optimum amount of DSLAM equipment need to be deployed based on the expected take rate of new broadband services. This avoids stranded capital with service platforms that become obsolete every 3-4 years.

Records accuracy
Once in place, the EZ-EDGE ensures that OSS records are aligned with the field. This translates into accurate billing, faster trouble shooting, elimination of false dispatch, etc.
